Description

Parker revisited the 2000 Lascombes in his June 2010 review of Bordeaux 2000:
'The first of a succession of brilliant wines that have emerged from this previously moribund estate over the last decade, the fully mature 2000 Lascombes is an outstanding effort. Notes of cedarwood, roasted herbs, incense, black cherries, and currants emerge from this medium-bodied, evolved Margaux. Consume it over the next 7-8 years.'

I have paired this with another crus classe from the excellent 2000 vintage that performed particularly well. As Parker writes

'Probably the best effort I have tasted from Lynch-Moussas ... in my career! Deep ruby/purple, with a sweet nose of creme de cassis intermixed with licorice, dried herbs, and vanilla, the wine is rich in fruit, has good glycerin, silky tannin, and a nice, spicy, layered finish. This will certainly have broad appeal, and it is good to see this property turn out something this interesting. Anticipated maturity: 2005-2015.
