Description

Robert Parker 94 pts

"Deep, medium intensity, still youthful; nose low-keyed at first but opened up pleasantly, very sweet, rich, cedary; dry, crisp, high extract through modest weight (12.5% alcohol), crisp, still peppery, tannic finish. A very good mouthful needing plenty of aging. Last tasted Nov 2005." Broadbent (best 2010 - 2025)

"At its best Latour is the most mineral, austere and dignified of all the First Growths; full, aristocratic, elegant, rich and complex. It is one of the longest lasting of all red wines, keeping in most vintages for 40 to 50 years, and for many it is the yardstick of fine claret." Clive Coates Master of Wine

"Latour is unquestionably the most consistent of Bordeaux's first growths. True to its reputation this wine is as remarkable in the finer vintages as in the lesser ones. Generally powerful, tannic, rich, dense, and intense, the wines of Latour are always top flight and extremely long-lived."
