Description

L'Evangile's 1995 is an awesome success. It is opaque purple-colored, with a complex, provocative, profound nose of jammy blueberry and black raspberry fruit nicely infused with smoky oak. The wine is fabulously extracted and full-bodied, with gobs of glycerin, extract, and richness. 95/100 Robert Parker.

Deep, rich, assertive, powerful. Impressive. ***(*) Michael Broadbent

Such a great wine. Had two of them and both were singing from open. Decanting helped them improve too but not much needed. Well secondary, earthy tones along with fruit on the nose( reminded of Ecliise Clinet 1995). Solid firm and well matured on the palate with good fruit and nice balance and purity. Felt left bank to be honest. A well worth it wine. Drink now but will last. 95

Into the neck. Décantée. Magnifique couleur grenat foncé. Bien brillante. Nez assez discret mais de classe, violette et truffe. Belle attaque en bouche, soyeuse, longue et sans creux. Magnifique finale, j'adore.

Brilliant wines on a cold Wellington Night (Normandale, Lower Hutt, Wellington, New Zealand): Outstanding modern bordeaux style that stresses beautiful toasted oak, currants and light plum aromas. In the mouth, just in early maturity - nice balance and multi-layered with toast and round plum and blackberry flavours with a very subtle hint of herbaceousness. This is not a monstrous Pomerol but has ample flesh and outstanding focus. Great as a sipping wine, with food, the worked nature of the wine may make this slightly ponderous if the match is not considered. A very classy wine that is in a particularly luxurious yet balanced style.

5/12/2012 - DBG WROTE:
Dark red core, lightening at rim with just a hint of bricking. Cassis, plum, and a hint of iron and iodine on the nose initially. With more time
additional complexity comes forward, with some earthy forest floor. Medium body, nice ripe fruit mixes in with some sweet earthy complexity that grows over time, medium-long finish, this is drinking very well right now and has many years ahead of it. Outstanding.
