Description

CHATEAU LYNCH-BAGES 1983

A nice bottle of this 40 year old Lynch-Bages, with a nice label, capsule, and a level of base neck, commensurate to the age of this wine.

Professionally stored since purchase.

Average UK price in Wine Searcher UK from retailers is £180-£230

93/100 Adrian van Velsen - vvWine
(12-2019) Ripe ruby with a subtle orange rim. Intense nose, smells of tobacco, cedar and ripe, red cherries, raisins, and chocolate. Nice pressure on the palate, shows some meat on the bone, appears ripe but still shows good fruit, the tannins are largely integrated, the acidity is right. Ends long-lasting with complex retro flavors and just a little more than a mild hint of animalism. Nobly matured and currently nice to drink. I like it very much and could definitely keep the level for a few more years.

90 / 100 Wine Spectator

(10-1994) Impressive finesse for the vintage, with beautiful, fresh tobacco, cedar and coffee aromas and flavors. Full-bodied and very silky with a fine, long finish.

Château Lynch-Bages is one of the finest estates in the Pauillac appellation, known for producing wines that combine structure and elegance. Since 1939, the estate has been successfully run by the Cazes family, who also owns other properties in Bordeaux such as Château Haut-Batailley. This is its grand vin from the 1983 vintage, in a perfectly mature stage of its life. Expect notes of cassis, dried plums, tobacco, leather, wet hay and lead pencil.
