Description

One of a number of bottles I have of Pape Clement from the outstanding 1961 vintage. Capsule has a few little knocks (see image); level to top shoulder; colour deep and reddish through the glass; facsimile label.

Michael Broadbent in his "Great Vintage Wine Book" says: Very deep, mahogany. Characteristic tobacco-like red Graves smell and taste. Firm; fragrant, elegant, quite sweet, lovely texture, still tannic despite its maturity. 4 stars

1961 Pape Clement offers smoke, cigar box, truffle, spicy black cherry, forest floor and tar scents. This medium/full bodied, fully mature, Pessac Leognan wine finishes with a smoky, tobacco and dark cherry sensation.
