very enjoyable after an hour -typical notes of ripe dark fruit such as cassis.

10/9/2016 - ILKKAW WROTE: 88 Points
Disappointing.. Hopefully a bad bottle.

This keeps on getting better and better. No decanting, and I really don't think it's needed. Just pop and let it breath from the bottle for at least 1h, better if it's 2h. Right after opening the tannins are slightly gripping, and there is a bit too much acidity. But it will integrate and reach a perfect balance. When it does, it will be hedonism at its best.

Opened and this time I've let it slowly aerating from the bottle for 4+h. Consistent with my previous note, dark berries, opulent and refined. While 2007 was not a memorable year, this is a Pavie Macquin that delivers abundant pleasure. Buy, drink, or hold, all three are good options!

2/5/2016 - AJEEJA LIKES THIS WINE: 93 Points
Decanted 4h+ this time, and it was a real pleasure to drink. Very elegant, and lots of blackberries on the finish. Loved it.

1/8/2016 - AJEEJA WROTE:
Very different than the 2001 I tasted a while back (which made me fell completely in love with this winery). Right after uncorking it was tight and not very integrated (you could smell the alcohol and taste the acidity). Letting the bottle breath for a few hours made it evolve and reaching an interesting place. So, this has more time to go but whether it will evolve into something better is beyond me. This vintage seems to be more on the elegant side, and compared to the 2001 it's a whole different beast.

7/26/2015 - WINE STRATEGIES (TWP) WROTE:
Recent tasting notes had me thinking this might be ready - boy is it ever. Dark ruby, no sign of age, with the type of ripe Merlot aromas I expected, low(er) acids and ripe, glossy tannins. By the second glass, some earthen notes appear, but they are fleeting - kind of like the finish. Red/Black fruits; more new world than old. A fine wine to quaff on burger night; pleasurable, simple, clean. 14,0% abv., thru 2020 (though no reason to hold, this is peak.

Aerated to decanter 90 minutes, served non-blind.

Wow .... wow .... wow .... this bottle blew my company and myself away this evening.

I know 2007 seems to be a difficult vintage, but this Macquin doesn't show it.
From uncorking, it gives you an amazing aroma - slightly to be mistaken for Pomerol.
Taste and flavour are on the spot - I can't find any defaults on this wine.

Certainly the star and saviour of this evening !!!!!!!!!!!
