Description

This is a bit of an exciting punt/opportunity as this bottle of Chateau Pavie (one of the very few A Classed Premier Grand Cru Classé St Emilion estates and renowned for wines that are exceptional and last well in the bottle) is EITHER a 1959 OR 1969. I have had this confirmed by the vineyard directly but it will not be possible to tell until the cork is removed. I did gently peel back the foil to see if the cork date was legible but it was not, it must be on the underside. The labels of both vintages were the same, unless there is someone out there who has the knowledge to differentiate. Either way it is a very rare wine from a time gone by! Sadly the label has been damaged over the years but the levels look exceptional. I am listing it with No Reserve as I realise the date is uncertain. It would make an interesting addition to any cellar and there are tales of wines from this vineyard and vintages still drinking impressively today.
