Description

Tertre Daugay did not take it’s name from a previous owner like many chateaux in St. Emilion. This Bordeaux wine vineyard was inspired by the ancient watch tower that is located on the estate. At the time the tower was constructed, the Tertre du Guet, which is translated as lookout butte, was used to notify the St. Emilion villagers of potential threats.
The 16 hectare Bordeaux wine vineyard, with vines about 25 years old, sits on clay and two different types of limestone. The vineyards are planted to 60% merlot and 40% cabernet franc.

ROBERT PARKER 89-91/100
This excellent yet under-exploited terroir has produced its finest Tertre Daugay to date. The
dark ruby/purple-colored 2009 offers loads of black raspberry, licorice, and black cherry
aromas, medium to full body, silky tannins, a layered mouthfeel, and an expansive finish. It
should provide enormous pleasure over the next 10-15 years. (Tasted two times.)

WINE SPECTATOR 92-95/100
Blackberry, black licorice and spices. What a nose. Full-bodied, with super velvety
tannins and a long, long finish. Wonderful texture. - James Suckling.

17/20 BETTANE & DESSEAUVE
Les Vins Remarquables - Jamais ces crus n’ont été aussi bons. Beau vin suave et soyeux.
Une belle pureté de définition

Jane Anson
Owned by the Malet Roquefort family. This sample is just starting to be over-tired (barrel
samples at this stage don’t last for much more than four days), but can still feel the lovely
rich fruits and soft tannins. Clearly a good wine, look forward to restasting. 91-New Bordeaux

6/29/2010 & rated 89 points: 2009 Tertre Daugay is another candidate for one of the top value plays from 2009. With licorice, chocolate, and berry aromas, this richly textured wine has a round, chocolate covered plum finish. 88-90 Pts Cellartracker

Earlier this year the property was purchased by the owners of Haut Brion, mainly because of the excellent yet under-exploited terroir.
