Description

The wine exhibits a dense purple color, as well as a wonderfully sweet, classic Pauillac nose of black currants and cigar box notes. Powerful for Haut Batailley (normally a light, elegant, supple Pauillac), the 1996 possesses intense fruit, medium to full body, ripe tannin, and a surprisingly long, layered finish. This appears to be a classic and may merit an outstanding score.

Beautiful bouquet with ripe cassis, smoke, cedar, tobacco and a touch of barnyard. On the palate a beautiful and classical wine with cassis, some bell pepper, smoke and creamy tannin with still a pleasant bite.Beautiful drinking stage now. No real hurry, but not many reasons to wait any longer.

A lovely mature classic Bordeaux. Nice balance of fruit (not overtop at all), acid, secondary and tertiary development. This is why you aged Bordeaux. Very good.

Dark red colour, blackcurrant aroma and similar on palate, plenty of fruit and long finish. Still getting better after an hour in the decanter. Clearly ready but no need to rush to drink this.
