Description

A good example of this first growth from the excellent 1978 vintage.

The bottle is as per the main photo.
Level is Very Top Shoulder.

A couple of fairly recent CellarTracker comments :

1/31/2016 - WINESHLUB WROTE: 94 Points
Opened one hour in advance and not decanted (as was suggested in a previous note, which was good advice). Strong tobacco/cigar box aroma. Full flavors of cedar, currants among others. Menthol and cassis in the finish. Pure, classic, rich, incredible depth, everything you expect in a mature top quality Bordeaux.
There was a strong smoke flavor when the bottle first opened, this dissipated over the course of an hour. I expect this is at its peak, but I see no sign of decline.

6/18/2015 - THALESGASPAR LIKES THIS WINE: 94 Points
Light brick colour. Very complex bouquet. You could say this is an old wine just by the nose. Excellent on the palate, very round and full of flavors. Nice long finish too. The wine was decanted for 1h, and we had during the next two hours. At the end, it was starting to decline, so I wouldn't recommend decanting it, I would just open the bottle 1h before drinking. It's excellent right now, fully mature! Nevertheless, I wouldn't keep it longer, since I think it will start going down the hill soon.
