Description

Owned by the French Ministary of Agriculture since 1910.

89 acres of vines planted with 77% semillon, 17% sauvignon blanc and 6% muscadelle. Fermented and aged 20 months in new oak barrels. Yields are around 11 hectolitres per hectare - truly low and only the super selected grapes are used. Consequently the quality has dramatically improved since the mid '80s, and is on a par with Rieussec and Suduiraut in the wake of Yquem.

Now after about 15 years in bottle the colour is just starting to take on a slightly deeper yellow hue which will now accelerate in the years to come.

This is a blemish free bottle in every respect with a very high fill - almost up to the cork, a tribute to perfect conservation in an East Kent underground cellar.

It can be kept easily for another 20 years.
