Description

Bag a bargain - current retail price range - £ (£116+ per bottle Winesearcher.co.uk)

Wine Society Notes at time of purchase : "Rich and full bodied grand cru, which quite remarkably allies exquisite perfume with great power and length of flavour. The low yield f 31.5hl/ha explains the cosiderable concentration, and the different angles of the slope in the top, middle and bottom part contribute complimentary wines which, when assembled together give a complete and harmonious wine of great complexity 2013-2022"

Wine Spectator : Beautiful aromas of chocolate, blackberry and light cappuccino follow through to a medium- to full-bodied palate, with fine tannins and a long finish. Delicious already but will be much better in a few years. Yummy wine... -Wine Spectator
The violet, sweet berry and cherry character in this wine is impressive. Soft and refined, with a caressing texture. A sweet, fruity and friendly red. Delicious. Score range: 92-94

K&L's notes (K&L San Francisco) - Bravo! Big, rich, long, very well-structured. Great intensity, with lovely fruit. Elegant, focused, and very much a Grand Cru! Unusual intensity and lush power for the vintage. I also tasted the component parts later in March 2006 at the cellar, where Sylvain explained the geology of the site to me. The bottom portion of the vineyard is Marl and limestone, called limestone entroques. This wine was perfumed, fresh and elegant, with a very feminine character. The middle band is limestone de Premeaux, a much harder limestone marl akin to that found in the southern portion of the Nuits-St.-Georges appellation, which produced a wine of much more focus, with a more masculine character and also more power and size, but still very pretty. Finally, the top portion of the vineyard is composed of Comblanchien marble, a notoriously hard and impenetrable stone. This wine is more structured and reserved than either of the other two, both tighter and more masculine in character. (Keith Wollenberg, K&L Burgundy buyer)
