Description

One bottle from this well regarded domaine in Chateauneuf du Pape.

Some tasting notes:

Robert Parker:

"From a hot year - with rain at harvest - that benefited later-picking estates, the 1995 Chateauneuf du Pape is still impressively young and vibrant, with a solid kick of tannin. Possessing a masculine edge to its licorice, smoked meats, peppery herbs and both red and black fruits, it's medium to full-bodied, concentrated and a little edgy on the palate, with plenty of similarities to the 2005. It certainly has another decade of longevity, but the tannin will be something to watch. I've had more ready to go bottles from my cellar and certainly see no reason to hold off here.”
93 points. Jeb Dunnuck - 14 September 2015

Tom Cannavan:

“Very dark, rich colour. A lovely animal quality on the nose. Brooding, dark and muscular, with a core of cherry and briar wood. Sinewy, solid core of blue/black fruit on the palate. Beefy and very tight, this is spicy and tannic but with fine length. Good structure, fine concentration and lots of class.”
Tasted: 1-Jan-2001

Wine Spectator:

“Lots of taut sinew here supporting the beam of black cherry, plum, tar and mineral flavors, with sweet earth, tobacco and cocoa powder on the finish. This wine has gotten progressively bigger over time and still seems in its ascendancy. Terrific focus and purity.” 96 points (JM) (3/2006)

The bottle on sale is the one in the photographs and is in decent condition as shown, with a good level well into the neck. It came from a case bought from the Wine Society in February 1997 and has been cellared carefully and properly since then.
