Description

Fantastic Sauvignon Blanc with a great balance between fruit, verve and lip smacking acidity.

This has been stored in a bonded, temperature and humidity controlled warehouse since release. It can be well enjoyed over the next year or two at least.

Jancis Robinson gives this 17/20:

2/26/2017, 17 points
(Dog Point Sauvignon Blanc Marlborough White) pH 3.15, TA 6.7 g/l, RS 3.7 g/l. A small proportion of ambient yeast. Lees aged but unoaked. Just released. From the get-go there is excellent balance between the smoky quality of Section 94 (but much less extreme) and the green fruited character of the variety when not picked underripe or with too much focus on passionfruit-like thiols. It tastes dry even with the 3.7 g/l residual and this, together with the fruit sweetness, balances the crisp acidity. Herbal, smoky/flinty on the palate, combined with grapefruit tang and intensely mouth-watering and long. It's like a baby Section 94 but more accessible and probably able to please a wider audience. This is the sort of NZ Sauvignon I want to drink - more than one glass. With time in the glass it opens up to cassis leaf. Absolutely delicious and VGV . (JH) (Drink between 2017-2019)
