Description

Deep yellow-gold. Knockout nose offers sweet banana, peach, flowers, citrus, mango and plenty of spicy botrytis. Very rich, ripe and smooth, this very sweet and full Sauternes displays uncommon depth and concentration to its flavors of ripe apricot, pineapple and spices. In the typically lush and sweet style of this estate's best vintages. Finishes focused and long, with hints of apple cider and peach nectar. One of the most refined, layered and balanced versions of Dosiy-Vedrines I recall at a similar stage of development.

By the standards of some of the 2009 Sauternes, this is something of a wall flower, partly because of a little too much free sulphur dioxide. But when that disappears in the glass, the wine reveals its understated charms: grapefruit, a hint of orange peel and fresh acidity allied to 145 grams of residual sugar and the faintest hint of tropical fruit. 10+ years.

Pale straw. Rather simple sweet aromas. And a bit of alcohol on the finish. Pear drops rather than pear juice - not a good trade. Definitely one of the less complex 2009 sweet white Bordeaux. Fades a bit fast. 2015-2025
