Description

Iconic Domaine run by Eloi Dürrbach in Provence. Usually a blend of 50/50 Cabernet Sauvignon/Syrah. Very classic in style. This is ready to drink now, but there is no real urgency if it is cellared well.

It's rather difficult to get hold of mature bottles of Trevallon....and even more difficult to find professional tasting notes. Clive Coates said in "The Vine" in 2000:

"How do you describe the wine (of Trevallon)? Splendidily coloured. Impressiveley concentrated. Structured without being brutally solid. Balanced and complex. These are the bare bones. And the flavours? Blackberry and blackcurrant, cedary and almost sweet in its richness, with an aspect of roasted wild provencal herbs. It is a wine of the garrigues; it is a wine of uncompromising personality; and, like its origins, it is a wine of no half measures. There is danger here. There is excitement. There is passion".

"(The 1989) Good colour. Slightly tougher on the nose than the 1990. Ripe, rich, firm and vigorous but not quite as rich and complete. I very much like the style here but it is more Syrah than Cabernet. More Rhone than Bordeaux. Very good grip. Very fine again. Drink now - 2020."

Enough said.
