Description

From the great Domaine of Huet. Not available currently in the UK. This wine is held in bond in the original carton.

"Polished. Mid-depth yellow, with youthful green hints. The nose shows classic old-fashioned Vouvray wet-wool characteristics. Linear, very fine and focused on entry. The acidity races through the wine. This is still very closed but shows great potential. There is obvious sweetness on entry, but balanced by the thread of malic acid. This is concentrated and powerful but exhibits great freshness and a lightness of touch. It would be infanticide to approach this now. It needs another decade at least to show its true potential. 37g/l."

Richard Kelley: The definitive guide to the wines of the Loire. 09/08.

"Extremely young still, cooked green apple, only slightly sweet, juicy acidity, a star in the making, needs another ten years. Drink 2017 - 2032+"

Cellartracker 2010: 92 points

"I really liked this. It was very young and rather outstripped by the 2002 Savenierres Clos du Papillon on the night, but it was lovely in its own right. Nose was absolutely beautiful, with salty sea-shells, flowers, mushrooms, dusky yellow fruit, beeswax, spice, dried mangoes and a honeyed after-tone. Very complex, very inviting. Palate was not quite there yet I thought. Still though, it had a lot going for it. A dry spine provided structure for rich, honeyed, beeswaxy flavours wed to kumquats, sweet lines, slightly candied pineapples and more of those Thai dried mangoes. Unlike the sheer power of the Savenierres, this had a feel of rather more refinement to it. Finish was especially impressive. Very long, with lots of spice, and a rush of fruit as mangoes and apricots re-emerged from underneath. A very nice wine, which should get even better with time."
