Description

"Valmur is a central climat of the Chablis Grand Cru hill in northern Burgundy. The vineyard covers a small valley cut into the slope, rising from the Serein valley below to the forested peak of the hill. Valmur Grand Cru wine is considered by many to be one of the best expressions of Chardonnay produced in Chablis: steely, dense and powerful and made for ageing.
The vineyard covers 27 acres (11ha) of land, sandwiched between the Grenouilles and Vaudesir vineyards to the north and Les Clos to the south. The vineyard is bisected by the Sainte Vaubourg path, which runs along the nadir of the valley, giving different exposures to the vines – some slopes face southeast and others face toward the northwest......

Valmur is widely considered to be one of the best Grand Cru climats, alongside the neighboring Grand Cru climats Les Clos and Vaudesir. This is due in part to its aging ability, but also because the racy-yet-elegant quality of its wines is considered almost quintessentially Chablis."
