2003 Clavoillon

Tasting note: Exuberant and very expressive complex white flower and ripe orchard fruit aromas combine with round, rich and mouth coating flavors that are impressively concentrated while carrying a subtle minerality and fine length. This is not an especially elegant wine but there is good volume and a delicious finish. This will be approachable young.

Tasted: Jul 01, 2005 Score: 86-89 Drink: 2007+

2004 Village Puligny

Tasting note: A touch of reduction detracts only mildly from the straw and herbal aromas that leads to flavors that display excellent precision and plenty of intensity, all wrapped in a detailed finish supported by a bright and prominent acid spine. Unusually for this wine, it's borderline rustic though I like the cuts-like-a-knife finish.

Tasted: Jul 01, 2007 Score: 88 Drink: 2010+

2004 Clavoillon

Tasting note: Ripe peach, straw and underbrush aromas plus subtle spice and moderate reduction complement the rich, round and full flavors that possess an impressively dense mid-palate and while the flavors are forward, the finish instantly tightens up. There is good detail here and more structure than this wine typically displays. If you're going to try one of these early, be sure to decant it as it definitely will benefit from the air exposure.

2005 Village Puligny

Tasting note: A notably ripe yet high-toned nose that is at once airy and elegant and this refinement continues onto the very clean and detailed medium-bodied flavors that possess good volume as well as fine richness on the minerally, focused and vibrant finish. This is an excellent villages and recommended.

2006 Clavoillon

Tasting note: Here too there is very subtle wood highlighting an airy, ripe and expressive nose featuring orchard fruit and citrus blossom aromas and continues onto the detailed, punchy and admirably vibrant medium-bodied flavors that finish with moderate dryness and very good length. Again, fine quality here but not up to that of the 2005.
