Description

A lovely wine from the Master of Meursault. White Burgundy has been plagued by premature oxidation but I have never had an oxidised bottle of Pierre Morey's wines. The wine in this bottle is clear and bright through the glass with no browning or cloudiness. The cork is firm.

There is no recorded oxidation of this wine on the oxidised white Burgundies website or on Cellartracker either, with an average score of 92 points. "It's always a relief these days to open a 1996 in great condition" and "Absolutely top notch for its level" in 2012, and "Very much alive and still taught" in 2013 says it all really.

"(His) finest village Meursault is Les Tessons. Situated just at the end of the premier crus but with a north-east exposition, it has fine drainage but must be picked a few days later to ensure full maturity. In a good vintage it is a spectacular wine. Indeed, Pierre Morey says that, on the death of his parents, the old bottles in their cellar were distributed amongst the family and the bottles of Les Tessons are often found to be as good as the best premier crus."
