Description

This is a celebratory show-stopper that I purchased from Christie's Wine Department, London in 1998.
Later that year, on one of my visits to Bordeaux, and to the Chateau, it was handed over to Paul Pontallier, for a 'health check'. The bottle was opened where it's excellent condition was checked, confirmed and re-corked by the Cellar Master and collected by me in early 1999.
1972 was maybe not the best vintage for Chateau Margaux, but I believe it has an average of 85 points across the spectrum. It certainly has impressive keeping qualities, and this will certainly be enhanced by being in Double Magnum format. This bottle has been kept in top class condition throughout most, if not all, of its life.
This bottle will form the core of a dedicated wine lover's collection, or alternatively, a fantastic 40th birthday celebration if you were born in month of December 1972. And, if not, there will always be other occasions!
