Description

Thickly textured with wonderful flavours of dark ripe fruit and olive, underlayed with graphite. This fine, concentrated Crozes comes from vines to the east of Hermitage and from similar soils to its illustrious neighbour.

The 2017 Crozes-Hermitage Le Grand Courtil was destemmed and brought up in used demi-muids. A brilliant bouquet of crème de cassis, graphite, toasted spice, new leather, and white flowers gives way to a medium to full-bodied Crozes that has a stunning sense of minerality, a supple, seamless, opulent texture, plenty of structure, and a great finish. The quality continues to soar at Ferraton, and this is up with the top four to five wines from Crozes in 2017. Inner quote mark (12/2019) 93 points Wine Spectator

Juicy and youthfully compact, with a briary edge framing the dark currant and plum preserve flavors, infused with anise, roasted apple wood and tar notes. A touch of cellaring should let this unwind. Best from 2021 through 2027. (JM) Inner quote mark (2/2020)
