A bottle from a case stored in my underground Victorian cellar.

James Halliday Wine Companion: 97/100
From a single site, wild-yeast fermented and matured for 10 months in French puncheons (40% new). Intense white peach and pink grapefruit dance a pas de deux on the long palate, creamy cashew oak nuances beating a rhythm in a perfectly judged support role. Drink by 2032.

Flametree’s top chardonnay, SRS Wallcliffe 2019, is AUD $65 and simply a great wine. I rated it 98. It stands tall beside competitors’ wines that are over AUD $100.
