Description

1x bottle of 2017 Chassagne-Montrachet from Fontaine Gagnard, a small high quality producer, who own a fine clutch of premier crus as well as the grand crus of Criots-Bâtard-Montrachet, Bâtard-Montrachet and Montrachet itself. This 2017 is beautifully balanced, rich yet polished and fine, with zesty minerality and stone fruits. This is a classic white Burgundy style with the lees and oak character you would expect, in perfect balance with the peachy character of the Chardonnay. Very well accomplished.

'A cuvee that was produced from 1.7 hectares around the village and saw 20% new wood, the 2017 Chassagne-Montrachet Village exhibits pretty aromas of white flowers, lime zest, pear and subtle oak vanillin. On the palate, it's medium to full-bodied, satiny and succulent, with nice concentration, an open and expressive core and a precise, chalky finish. This will drink very well out of the gates given its charming but classic profile.' Robert Parker, Wine Advocate.

This wine has been stored in a cool and dark underground store, since arrival in the UK in late 2019.
