Still entirely sourced in Mautern, the 2021 Grüner Veltliner Wachauwerk opens with a clear, bright and quite intense, fruity rather than mineral bouquet with spicy white-seed fruit and some grassy/earthy aromas. Mouth-filling, fruity, fresh and bone dry on the palate, with fine phenolic grip, this is a lean but textured and elegant, straightforward dry Veltliner with Riesling features in terms of acidity and straightness. Good finish but still too young to show any charm. A rather Teutonic style. Bottled with seven grams per liter of total acidity and 12% stated alcohol. Natural cork. Tasted at the domain in September 2022.
