Description

Appellation Graves controllee
Domaine Clarence Dillon
Originally bought from Barton and Guestler, Bordeaux

The 61 was reputed to be the best year since world war two, the 62 was deemed " a very good year" and this wine has consistantly scored in the high 80's and low 90's

Wine Journal
Neal Martin 93-95

Little sign of aging. A huge nose - black fruits, leather & minerals. Very complex. Wonderful balance on the palate with notes of tobacco and leather with a hint of plum. Not quite as profound as Latour 62 but this only reaffirms 1962 as an under-appreciated vintage. Divine. Tasted dining at Chateau Doisy-Vedrines. Tasted again in March 2004 in Bordeaux. A lovely restrained leathery, cigar box nose. Complex but not over-powering. The palate is fully-mature, medium-bodied with notes of tobacco, tar and leather. Good acidity, harmonious, a classic wine in every sense of the word. Very Bordeaux, very Graves, very Haut-Brion.
