Description

2 bottles + 1 Magnum
In 1988, Giovanni Abrigo, a great lover of French viticulture, completed his oenology studies and began working with his father Orlando in the family business. Ambitious producer and skilful oenologist, in almost thirty years Giovanni introduced important changes and technical improvements in the winery. In fact, alongside traditional winemaking methods, he introduced new automatic technologies to optimize the various phases of the production process. Today, the Treiso winery, with its 20 hectares in the province of Cuneo, produces some of the most important and well-known Piedmontese wines in the world: Barbaresco DOCG, Barbera d'Alba DOC, Dolcetto d'Alba DOC, as well as various wines Langhe DOC.

The 2016 Barbaresco Montersino is laced with the essence of black cherry, plum, lavender, rose petal, cinnamon and menthol. Dark and brooding in the glass, the 2016 is a Barbaresco of gravitas. I would give it a few more years in bottle. There is a lot of character here.

Drawing its fruit from Treiso, the Orlando Abrigo 2016 Barbaresco Montersino is a real beauty. The wine pours from the bottle with a lively dark ruby color, and it delivers sharp and linear aromas of bright fruit, tilled earth and licorice. This classic vintage provides an authentic portrait of the Nebbiolo grape with some of the extra fullness and layering that we can expect of this vintage. I could imagine a happy pairing with any food that involves truffle oil or essence.

Oak, cracked dill and toast aromas mingle with leather, stewed plum and the merest whiff of barnyard. The palate is concentrated, offering baked prune, vanilla and licorice alongside close-grained, drying tannins.

The Chianti Classico Riserva by Castello di Monsanto is another great wine from this prestigious Tuscan winery gives us year after year, harvest after harvest. It 'a fragrant Chianti Riserva, with a good style on the palate, with a closing that remembers and recalls the veiled inflections plant. It borns from a blend of Sangiovese, Canaiolo and Colorino grown in vineyards offering bunches suitable for long aging; vinification is the classic one with a maceration which lasts for 20 days and a refinement that continues for approximately 18 months in wood smaller than the second passage.
A period in which the Chianti Riserva del Castello di Monsanto grows structure and elegance, where her bouquet become broader and more complex and then ranges from blackberries blueberries, and vegetables with balsamic nuance on the finish. The taste is full-bodied and balanced fruity, with a closure that gives tannins intense, but very fine and veiled. A bastion of the typical Chianti, a wine that is a perfect expression of the territory and that it shows characteristics of longevity really amazing.

Parker 94 Bosco is obtained solely from selected Syrah grapes, currently in the best parts of two hillside vineyards planted in 1995 and 1999. Very intense, clear; complex and earthy textures of arabica coffee powder, cocoa beans, Tuscan cigar box, fresh mint; red fruits, flowers and herbs from the Mediterranean scrub.
