Description

Half Bottle of KRUG, a free gift to me from KRUG in 1985 when I visited the vineyard as a guest.

The History
I was a Regional Director for Thresher Wine Shops back in 1985 and a week trip to Reims and 9 Champagne houses was part of my higher wine certificate. The Uk was at that point the biggest consumer of Champagne behind the USA and Thresher was the biggest independent retailer

I nearly didn’t go because my first daughter had been born 2 weeks before the trip, I love my wife, she let me go!

We visited 9 champagne houses, it was 35 degrees most days, toured the vineyards and ate like kings in one of the houses each night. Veal, langoustines, and champagne from Magnums was the norm, tasted 500+ wines that week! Ate in amazing locations including the Orange house at Moet & Chandon. we hade a free bottle from every house,I have all the menus from the trip. Money could not buy this ….

I drank every bottle but 2 ( I have another auction) at Krug, we were in the courtyard and Henri walked by and I got it signed by Henri Krug as we crossed a courtyard.

Anyway, they bring back amazing memories of that year!
