Description

A rare and strikingly original cuvée from the biodynamic pioneers at Leclerc Briant. Abyss is a Champagne that quite literally goes where few others dare — after its initial maturation in the cellars of Épernay, the bottles are submerged for a year under the sea off the coast of Brittany, at depths of around 60 metres. This underwater ageing in near-total darkness and constant cool temperature imparts remarkable finesse and salinity, creating a wine of energy, precision, and mineral tension.

Crafted from organically and biodynamically farmed Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Meunier, Abyss 2014 shows crystalline citrus, chalk, and seashell aromatics with layers of brioche, oyster shell, and iodine on the palate. The finish is taut, long, and distinctly marine — a sensory reflection of its oceanic resting place.

Each bottle is released in its original presentation box, wrapped in white paper and accompanied by an Abyss certificate.
