Description

Well, this hardly needs any description: THE wine from Billecart from the last half century!

Have a read of this:
https://www.finewineexperience.com/media/in-review-1996-champagne-dinner/
Wine of the night!

There are plenty of other tastings and reviews online so you don't have to trust any blurb I write! I'd simply say that it is significantly cheaper than Vieilles Vignes Francaises or Clos d'Ambonnay (wish I had one of them instead)!

Reason for selling:
This, and my other '96s to be sold were being held to celebrate an anniversary shared with someone special. But they're not special anymore so together with generally having too much wine to drink before The End, I'm clearing out these '96s. The "others" are: Dom Ruinart (mag), Bolly RD, Pol Roger Winston, Billecart Grand Cru (the latter 4 all in presentation boxes). If you are a '96 fan and interested in any of these others, let me know and a deal might be possible before I list them on here.

Provenance:
Given to me on a significant birthday 16years ago and stored in my Liebherr at 7C since then. In other words stable keen amateur storage. Level, bottle, packaging, wooden box, and outer cardboard box all impeccable.

Delivery:
Anything other than a fully insured professional courier service would be a bid odd in my opinion. And I am happy to deliver personally within Zone 1 London. But let's discuss after the auction closes. I've put in £25 delivery fee as a nominal amount to be adjusted after the hammer.

Reserve price rationale:
There's a mark on Winesearcher at £650 (delivered), but you have to buy 3 bottles. The "Cru" world wine pricing ("Market Price £250?) is 'broker' indicative pricing rubbish! I'll take a £150 / 23% discount to retail, ie £500.

Do ask any questions arising and thanks for your interest!
