Here is a selection of 5 Lovely Amarone wines. These have all been stored in my wine fridge since purchase and most are not available in the UK now.


2 x Buglioni 'L'Amarone', Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG, Italy 2006

Dark hue with youthful tints. Fruit-dominant nose, showing mainly blackcurrant with subtle mineral undercurrents. The palate reveals a balanced, silky wine where the fruit notes flow into a more mature dimension suggestive of cocoa and dark chocolate

2 x Cecilia Beretta Amarone della Valpolicella Classico DOCG, Veneto, Italy 2006

Description
Cecilia Beretta is the jewel of Pasqua Family and the prime objective of the Cecilia Beretta estate is to recapture the force and personality of the traditional of the Valpolicella area. The activity is geared towards making a smallish range of very fine wines. Amarone is obtained from the best bunches of the Valpolicella grapes, harvested by hand left to raisin for about 4 months.

Style
A vigorous, full-bodied deep granate red wine. Clean and vibrant fragrances of currants, blackberries and sweet almonds on the nose, with notes of vanilla. Big, warm and rich, with polished, silky tannins and a long and armonic finish.

Food Pairings
Excellent with grilled red meat, game stews and mature and rich cheeses. Try it with tipycal dishes from the Veronese tradition such as risotto with Amarone, polenta with mushrooms and Asiago cheese or tagliolini with a rich ragù sauce. Also a delicious match to a chocolate dessert or simply to a dark, smooth piece of chocolate.
To be served at 18° C.

1 x Latium Morini Campo Leon, Amarone della Valpolicella DOCG, Italy 2007

The Latium Morini Amarone della Valpolicella "CampoLeòn is clear in appearance, garnet-red in color with glints of ruby, and consistent in the glass, impenetrable to light. Its bouquet is excellent quality, very intense, complex almost broad. There are numerous perceptions: violets, cheery preserve, fruit in alcohol are among the main aromas, there are overtones of minerals and spice such as vanilla, liquorice and black pepper. During tasting it is dry, warm and supple with good freshness and elegantly tannic and tangy. It is a balanced wine, intense and has an excellent quality of persistency. It has strong body and a ready evolutive stage. This wine possesses an exciting harmony.
