Description

Established in 1901 by Leoncio Arizu this progressive estate is still owned by the Arizu family and based in the same place, Lujan de Cuyo, near Vistalba in the Mendoza region. Their reserve Malbec comes from the 32ha La Linda vineyard, at an altitude of 960m. Not surprisingly the micro-climate is decidedly cool, especially in winter, but the slow ripening is assisted by long, sunny days - there is very little rain and irrigation with melt water from the Andes is used when required. Low yields and large diurnal temperature variations have given the wine impressive concentration balanced by good freshness. Aged a year in French oak barrels, this is a serious, age-worthy wine that shows the ambitions of the Arizu family to make world class wines. Deep red/purple colour intense aromas of blackberry, coffee, vanilla and exotic spices. Powerful flavours of ripe berry fruits combine with soft ripe tannins and notes of pepper and spice. Fine acidity keeps the concentrated fruit flavours in balance. Enjoy now with full flavoured meat dishes or cellar for additional complex notes
