Description

With this wine Michel Chapoutier has made a masterful wine from the grapes grown in Roussillon. The pure essence of Roussillon terroir made from Syrah, Grenache and Carignan coming out at a powerful 15.5%.

The vineyard is located on Gneiss with schistous soils from the Devonian Period and limestone from Kimmeridgian Period. At harvest the grapes are all handpicked. The grapes are 100% destemmed. Extraction is only carried out by punching of the cap during a long maceration (at least four weeks). About a half matured in vats and the other half is aged in casks according to the vintage. The 2015 vintage was hailed as an excellent vintage and in some regions a legendary vintage. So the perfect storm of great wine maker, great terroir, great domaine and great vintage all came together. It's getting harder to find mature bottles of this wine now as "if you know, you know" and this vintage goes for around £30 rrp.

With a high fill and pristine presentation, the bottles are lying in the premises of a wine merchant.
