Description

One bottle of this wine, which I bought from Tanners of Shrewsbury in the early 1990s and have kept in my cellar ever since. The bottle is the one in the photographs. The slip label has a slight scuff, while the main front label is as shown with some damage at the top right as you look at it. There is some rack damage to the back label. The capsule is as shown and looks good and tight. The level is very good and the colour looks good.

Robert Parker 91/100
The 1990 La Sizeranne, made from yields of 28 hectoliters per hectare, has begun to close up. The color is a dark purple, and with coaxing, the super ripe nose of cassis, licorice, minerals, and spices has begun to emerge. This full-bodied, tannic wine was aged in 60% new oak casks. It possesses copious quantities of black fruit flavors, a chewy texture, and very fine length. I suspect this wine needs until the turn of the century to approach maturity. It should last for 25-30 years.

94/100, Christer Byklum
1990 Vintage Tasted: Aug 2023
Ruby. Dark fruits, some figs, prunes with more air, detailed, some mint, scented, nuanced, lovely nose, layered, youthful for its age. Fresh acidity, ripe tannins, red fruits, blackberries, juicy, detailed, smooth, intense yet refined, long and layered, long.
