The 1994 Martinez Vintage Port is a glass-staining opaque purple colour. It exhibits a classy nose of floral notes, damp earth, spice box, licorice, and black fruit compote. Medium weight on the palate with firm tannins but more than ample fruit for balance, this is a savoury, lengthy effort that should evolve for another 6-8 years and drink well.

A classy young Port, full-bodied and brimming with fruit flavour and silky, fine tannins that kick in on the finish. A subtle, young wine that takes you by surprise. Best after 2010. Ranked 22 of Wine Spectator's Top 100 in 1997. Score: 95/100 - Wine Spectator
