Description

The first ever vintage of a new super blend, 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from 30-year old vines from Peyra Fioc.
Opaque core, intense purple rim and equally intense aroma, perfumed oak. Abundant fruit, fairly sweet, full body, velvety richness masking soft tannins and acidity. Clearly a tour de force! ***** Michael Broadbent

Mas de Daumas Gassac is a French wine producer from the wine region Languedoc, classified as Vin de Pays de l'Hérault due to its use of grape varieties outside specifications of its AOC. The winery, producing both white and red wine, is located in the south of France, in the commune of Aniane. Despite its modest designation and location, the vineyard has received widespread acknowledgement, described by The Times to taste like a “Latour” and by the French gastronomic guide GaultMillau as the "Lafite Rothschild of the Languedoc-Roussillon", it is frequently referred to as the Grand cru of the Languedoc.

7/1/2009 - STEFANOS T. WROTE:93 Points
Deep red colour with very small rim. Nose very focused and dense: red fruit on a background of oak. Aftertaste that lingers: pure fruit and vanilla, tannins there but silky. Still an infant albeit a fit and muscular one.

6/25/2009 - NOGUEAN WROTE:95 Points
Stood out on a 10-vintage vertical tasting of Daumas Gassac organized by the Wine Society last year. Pricey for Languedoc, hard to find (very small production), but worth buying if you come across.

09/01/2004
Perfumed nose of menthol, herbs and violets. Very smooth palate with supple tannins, fine fruit and ripeness. Opulent, New-World style fruit comined with Old World structure. Very pure, very complex.
13/12/2004
Named after the famous oenologist, this 100% Cabernet Sauvignon combines lots of rich, ripe fruit, spice and oak characters. Big structure on the palate, complex fruit characters and a very long finish.
