Description

This is a very rare animal, a Bordeaux style wine produced from a small vineyard in Bel Air, Los Angeles, California.

Considering the price of land in this prime residential area, this must be a true labour of love, and having tasted a bottle of this wine recently, I can understand why Tom Jones, who bought the estate in 1959, and planted terraced vineyards in 1978, persevered with winemaking until very close to his death in 2014. The vineyard was sold in 2013 to a new owner - one Rupert Murdoch - who apparently saw the estate advertised in his own Wall Street Journal newspaper!

I've tasted a bottle of this recently and it is superb stuff which I am sure would stand up very well as a ringer in a tasting of top 1996 Classed Growth Bordeaux.
