Description

Maurice O’Shea was an Australian winemaking icon. His palate was legendary, a weapon he put to good use. His wines were inspirational to the creator of Grange, Max Schubert. To honour O’Shea, Mount Pleasant names their best shiraz from the oldest vines on the property after him. It’s only made in the best years and the source includes the original plantings of 120-year-old vines in the volcanic soils on the foothills of the Brokenback Range.

Carefully selected fruit was destemmed into open top fermenters and after fermentation was then gently pressed to large format French oak barrels, of which less than 20% were new, for almost 14 months’ maturation before blending and bottling. Amazingly intense red and black fruits combine with spice to create beautiful and complex aromas, perfect balance and refined tannins culminating in a dramatic finish. Bottled under screwcap. All bottles are in perfect condition; available online for around £100+
