Description

A magnum of Maison Leroy 1969 Musgny. This is Maison, not Domaine. The Domaine wasn t established until 1988, I believe.

1969 was an excellent vintage in Burgundy - 5-Stars Broadbent - and this looks to be in excellent order, level well into the neck, cork firm, no signs of ullage. It was purchased from a German collector along with a cache of aged Latour (see pic). He had from the late 1970s, he couldn t be precise, and it s been well cellared. When it arrived it was very dark/cloudy and it s been standing in a dark cellar for a week and has cleared - see pictures. I would say this was to be expected given its age and that Madame Bize Leroy never filters or fines her wines.
Please remember this is a 50+ year old wine and good as the condition looks, impeccable as the source is, I cannot guarantee its contents drinkability. What I can say is that if it is right, then this will be a memorable drinking experience.

The prices on WineSearcher for this are hysterical. There s a bottle in Germany for just over £8,000 and one in Hong Kong for £7700. This is a magnum and I ve placed a nominal reserve of £500 on it.
