Description

Medium colour, simple straightforward port but very pleasant drinking. Best 70 of this offline for me. Very good.
I felt it to be perfectly matured port offering a fine blend of delicacy and balancae.
It's not as spicy (certainly not a block buster next to its 1970 brethren like the Fonseca) but it's one I felt is what port strives to be when it's mature.
I would have placed this in the low to mid 90s and this particular bottle has me out looking for more offleys.
The Port Forum

From the outstanding 1970 Vintage this port is fully mature having a beautiful pale colour. Nose of mid-weight, dominated by menthol. To taste very hot on the tip of the tongue, fat with rich fruit - delightful.
Berry Bros

Any visitor to the Douro will be told of the intrepid Baron Forresteor, one time owner of Offley's. He is credited with mapping the upper regions of the Douro and produced a detailed record of all the landmarks down the river, only eventually to drown in one of the most dangerous rapids - not helped by the weight of gold he had just collected from his tenants.
Offley's older vintages from the 1960s and 1970s are well worth looking out for, though since then little Vintage Port has appeared under this name.
