Orin Swift’s Mannequin Chardonnay is a striking example of Californian winemaking, brought to life by renowned winemaker Dave Phinney. Having earned a cult following, Phinney's journey began in Napa Valley, where his bold, creative approach saw him blend wines from different appellations, paying homage to California’s winemaking heritage. This wine draws its name from the label's unique art, encouraging the drinker to reflect on the varied expressions of the mannequins as they enjoy the wine. To make it, grapes are sourced from some of California's top vineyards, including Bien Nacido and Laguna Ranch, ensuring top quality. Aged for eight months in French oak, the wine presents rich, fragrant notes of yellow peach, crème fraîche and biscuit. On tasting, flavours of white peach, caramel apple and candied walnut evolve into a smooth finish with hints of lemon pith and toffee. A perfect match for roast chicken or salmon, the wine’s texture and flavours balance beautifully with richer dishes.
