Pavie Macquin 1995

One bottle of this wine, in good condition as shown in the photographs, having been cellared in a proper underground cellar since purchase.

A beautiful St. Emilion, showing the raspberry notes that Merlot can yield given the right terroir. Accented by baking chocolate, cedar, rose, and a kiss of herb from the Cab Franc, this is very pretty indeed. Silky tannins now. Seems to be at the peak of its powers and, though not quite enough complexity or dynamism to bump it up to the next tier, a solid 92-93. From half.

3rd bottle of 6 purchased 18+ years ago and stored in my cellar.
Opened for dinner, celebrating my 50th bday. A really profound and special bottle of fully matured Bordeaux. Leather, espresso, plums, cassis, wet earth, some mocha. Great complexity, velvety mouthfeel with perfectly balanced acidity and a long and chewy finish. The wine went nicely with beautiful ribeye steaks (which I burnt on the grill). Will continue to drink nicely through 2022+.
