This limited release only made in the outstanding vintages when Penfolds then look out for interesting parcels from venerated old Barossa Valley blocks, to craft a rich, contemporary style of Cabernet Sauvignon. Hence this wine sits above the Bin 707 and Bin 169, a bargain in comparison especially for this vintage, as a Barossa at 100% Cabernet Sauvignon, it easily beats them and not to be confused with similar releases that need a little Shiraz – this is 100% Barossa Cabernet Sauvignon thanks to its class and makers!

So in 2010 Oz had some of the best winter rainfall in years, especially Barossa Valley which was a great growing season. With an almost perfect spring, the vintage conditions allowed the Cabernet Sauvignon grapes to realise full ripeness and tannin maturity. A best year and a Cabernet vintage for the reference books. This wine was handcrafted, as a small batch wine, using techniques that enhance varietal definition and textural qualities, it has only been available in the best unique vintages like 2006, 2008 and amazing 2010 Vintage. A very skilled wine with everything in place perfectly. Making this super smooth, a rich pure wine, intense mouth fill, but with a long lingering smooth clean taste, it just pulls you back for more. Superb with food, but even better on its own in a quite place! A light vanilla oak, with still plenty of subtle Penfolds tannins you love, sure to get better still, over the next 10 years with care but already a Joy.
