WOTN for me, beating out even the 95 Lafite. This has a huge nose of raspberries with gorgeous well delineated sweet fruit. The finish keeps lingering an reveals more and more complexity. Really sexy.

Deep garnet colored, the pronounced aromas are starting to mature into an incredible bouquet of Indian spices, fenugreek, tobacco and leather over a profound core of fig paste, dried plums and kirsch. Crisp, richly fruited and yet revealing an elegant medium body in the mouth, it has a medium level velvety tannins and finishes very long. This vintage has a lot of life left.

A blend of 95% Shiraz and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon sourced from Barossa, Clare Valley and Coonawarra, matured for 100% new American oak hogsheads. A deep garnet core with dark brick rim. It is amazing how closed the nose is compared to the previous bottle a couple of years ago. It has a glorious nose that just blossoms with aeration with blackberry, wild hedgerow and a touch of anis and yet it is tightly coiled compared to before. The palate is medium-bodied, beautifully balanced with svelte tannins, quite feminine with subtle flavours of red cherries, mulberries, mocha, black plum and peppermint. Very focused on the almost Cote-Rotie like finish. Outstanding. Drink 2012-2030+ Tasted September 2008.
