For auction is an extrmely limited release bottle of Penfolds Great Grandfather Rare Tawny.

The Penfolds certificate included reads as follows:

Penfolds Great Grandfather Rare Tawny, an extremely limited blend of the finest and oldest wines in the Penfolds Kalimna Tawny Cellar, is the ultimate expression of over 160 years of Penfolds fortified winemaking excellence. This certificate is your guarantee that the series 11 release is strictly limited to 2,400 bottles of which this is bottle number: 2078

Details from Penfolds as follows:

"In 1844 Christopher Rawson Penfold planted vines on the slopes of Magill to produce fortified wines. This tradition now dates back over 165 years.

Penfolds Great Grandfather Rare Tawny, a special blend of the finest and oldest components of Grandfather Tawny, was first introduced in 1994 to celebrate Penfolds’ 150th anniversary. Great Grandfather, blended from exceptional aged Solera (a stacked blending system) material, contains the oldest parcels from the Solera.

This wine is immensely complex and powerful. The maturation Grandfather style relies on a fuller spirit for fortification and extended small old oak maturation to gain overall complexity and optimum balance.

Great Grandfather Rare Tawny is Penfolds’ rarest wine."

This fortified wine was bought by me upon release and has been correctly stored ever since and is in perfect condition. The bottle comes in a wonder presentation case. I drank a bottle over Christmas and it was superb. Slurp are currently selling this wine at £165.00 a bottle.

Postage is £24.50 by Royal Mail special delivery, this is due to the whole package weighing in at nearly 3.5kgs.

Payment by bank transfer or cheque raised against any UK based bank or cash upon collection if you live in the North West region.
