Description

For sale is a rare and highly desirable 1.5L Magnum of Penfolds Magill Estate Shiraz from the 2003 vintage. Penfolds magnums are made in very small numbers and are difficult to get hold of. This one is bottle number: 00043.

Tasting Notes:
Deep red. Fresh elderberry/mulberry aromas with some brambly/herb garden notes. Elderberry/blackberry/sweet fruit flavours with some thyme/aniseed notes. The wine is still very elemental and fresh with assertive/sinewy tannins and planty of fruit richness. Finishes long and sweet. 2010 - 2028

This single vineyard wine is vinified in the one-and-a-half century old Penfolds winery and cellars where Max Schubert created Penfolds Grange. The fruit is traditionally basketpressed and open fermented, then matured in French and American oak barrels.

The bottle was bought by me upon release and has been correctly stored ever since. You will see from the photos that it is in perfect condition.

This wine is now 10 years old and is in the early years of its peak period, which will last for another 15 years or so. It would make a stunning 10th anniversary present or something special to lay down.

The current release of Magill Estate (2010) is selling at over £82.00 a 75cl bottle and magnums are traditionally more expensive than the cost of two individual bottles. I would suggest that the 2010 magnum will retail at over £200.00 if you can find one - not seen any for sale this year.

The magnum on its own weighs over 2.5kg, meaning that postage by Royal Mail Special Delivery will be £25.80 for parcels between 2kg and 10kg. I only charge actual postage costs and ask nothing for the packaging. No profiteering on postage here !!

I cannot accept payment by Paypal due to their high fees, which I am reluctent to pass on to buyers. The buyer can collect if they wish. I live in the North West on the Wirral about 10 miles from Liverpool close to Junction 2 of the M53 motorway.
