Description

Two bottles - one each of the 1995 and 1996 vintages.

Latest two cellartracker notes for the 1996:

10/9/2015 - chrishsh Likes this wine: 92 Points

Deep/dark color well-balanced structure. Mushroom/earthy palette. Medium length of the after-taste. My first 100% Tempranillo wine, but definitely one of the best Spanish wine I've ever tried.

Third and final bottle, and definitely the best, the cork was soaked up to a centimetre from the top, decanted for 1/2 hour, very earthy, mushrooms and autumn leaf mould. In the mouth it really hits power mode, tart red fruits, with a herbal note and complex notes from the long crianza period, coffee, dark chocolate, the tannins as expected are beautifully intergrated now and a juicy acidity makes for a wonderfully aged tinto fino from Ribera de Duero.

Latest two cellartracker notes for the 1995:

6/18/2015 - snoerre Likes this wine: 92 Points

As we were sitting outside in the evening, no notes on the color.
Expressive nose, still fruit driven, but complex and full of different aromas. Typical Tempranillo with that sweetness I always recall. Lots of berries, some spices on the palate. Does feel pretty light, but still present. Somehow contradictory, but for me typical for older wines. Long, soft finish, tannin is completely resolved.

The cork was completely done, but the wine was in perfect condition. Beautiful to drink now, no need to wait but also no need to hesitate.

Dark color. Intense nose that fills the room. Very spicy. Good attack and full-bodied, with well integrated tannins and fresh acidity. Long and persistent finish. Truly great Pesquera.
