I first wrote laudatory comments about Pesquera over a decade ago, so I am thrilled to see proprietor Alejandro Fernandez continue to build on his noteworthy track record. His new releases are splendid. The superb 1995 Tinto Crianza will be released in January, 1998. It exhibits an opaque ruby/purple color, as well as a wonderfully sweet, jammy black cherry and cassis-scented nose with hints of roasted herbs, vanillin, and spice. Thick, juicy, and full-bodied, this low acid, huge, accessible, and flamboyantly fruity

Wine Spectator - 91 points
This rich red shows a firm structure, good concentration and well-defined flavors of blackberry, roasted plum, toast and spice. It's powerful yet not clumsy, with great intensity and verve.--Pesquera vertical.

International Wine Cellar - 94 points
Saturated dark ruby. Imploded nose of roasted red and black fruits, sun-dried tomato, truffle, smoked meat and coffee. Huge, rich and backward, with strong soil tones of minerals, iron and tobacco (like a rare steak). Began rather closed in on itself but showed great ripeness and a texture of liquid silk with extended time in the recorked bottle. Lush, smoky and full, with extremely smooth tannins and subtle finishing flavors that go on and on. Yum.
