Description

So this is that much debated vintage for the mighty Petrus that underwhelmed Parker, but Broadbent considered the best of the 80s. And that's saying summink given the legendary status of the '82 and '89! Old Guard vs New(ish).

I've seen Broadbent award this vintage 5 stars in at least two separate reviews, and the glowing notes in the more recent reviews on Cellar Tracker would seem to endorse Broadbent as the long term winner (neither Parker nor Broadbent has published notes on this vintage for over 20 years).

Not my usual style to set a reserve, but a bottle of this value is untested for me on BFW, so I'm sure you'll forgive me this once. But at £2,800 it's miles inside the best price on Wine-Searcher. In fact, by the time you add the dreaded VAT that a merchant would be obligated to charge, you wouldn't get much change for a standard size bottle for that money.

I've actually got two of these that I'd be prepared to sell. They're from a case of 3, the other long polished off. Too rich for my blood these days, sadly, so seeking a loving new home :) If you win and you're interested in doubling up, please let me know.

Stored well, of course, and in good order. There's a tear to the top of the label, and a dirty mark bottom right. Other than that tip-top.
