Vintage Port is not only one of the most legendary dessert wines, but it truly represents great value for money. Whether you prefer your Vintage Ports young or enjoy drinking them when they are considered “antiques” is up to you. There is no right or wrong answer. However, the fun is in learning the difference between the young and primary fruit laden Vintage Ports that so many people enjoy, and experiencing what they can become, as they mature.

I love, that older Vintage Ports have their flavours and structural components come to a beautiful point when all seems right with the world. This is the “peak” drinking window, which serious Port aficionados go to great lengths to enjoy. The 1963 Quinta do Noval has entered this glorious drinking window, and if the rapturous outpourings of the many critics are to be noted, then it will remain in this state for some DECADES yet!

I am in the very fortunate position to have the opportunity to share this experience with the purchaser of this opportunity as I am offering for sale the slightly damaged label bottle from my personal collection.

Quinta do Noval is situated in the breathtakingly unspoilt and wild Douro Valley in northern Portugal: where quintas cling to precipitously steep hillsides. Quinta do Noval Vintage Port 1963 - a serious contender for the leading vintage port of the latter half of the 20th century.

Last year this legendary Port received a perfect score from Master of Wine, Jancis Robinson. She wrote:
“Wild nose. Drier and spicier than most vintage ports. Romany port! This builds gloriously on the palate. Rounds out on the end and wonderfully. Prunes and dried peel. Dried figs. Opened out. Vibrates. But it also has SO much potential. A magnificent monument. 20/20 points. Drink to 2060.” Jancis Robinson
